Sunshine Starters – Packs

Sunshine Starters books focus on the essential skills that all children need in order to develop into successful readers: phonemic awareness (the ability to hear, identify and manipulate individual sounds (phonemes) in spoken words); phonics (understanding the relationship between written letters (graphemes) and sounds); vocabulary (developing an ever-increasing base of known words and their meaning); comprehension (ability to understand and make meaning from text); fluency (ability to read at pace with accuracy and expression); and oral language (how to communicate ideas).

The books can be bought in packs which have been organised according to reading ability. We have also assigned a theme to each book. Books can be bought individually, allowing teachers to acquire books relevant to their current inquiry topics, spanning different ability levels, for interest boxes and reading workshops.
