Verity Croker

I’ve loved writing ever since my group of friends and I used to compile our monthly ‘Club Magazine’ in primary school, taking turns to be editor.

My first publishing contract was last century (!). I write junior fiction and non-fiction, as well as fiction for young adults and adults. I’m also a published poet.

I love seeing the images that accompany my writing, as they add another layer of complexity to the story. I’m thrilled with all the illustrators chosen by Sunshine Books to bring my books to life. The cover art and illustrations are what makes children (and adults!) pick up a book and capture their attention to the very last page. As a trained teacher, I enjoy writing for the educational market, as I feel so strongly that children need to become competent readers to fully function in a modern society.
